What’s in a Name?

Aspen James Design just came naturally…

My father, James, left this earth as summer turned to fall in 2013. He had always mentioned how much he loved Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. My dad was quite the traveler and loved a good road trip, whether it be down the street or across the USA. When he passed, we traveled to Colorado and spread his ashes in a creek surrounded by Aspen trees.

I have loved Aspens for as long as I can remember, but it was not until the crazy idea to start my own business occurred that I would research and discover exactly how truly amazing they are. Their complexity is far beyond their beauty - and that alone is mesmerizing. Slender, tall and gorgeous - it’s like the supermodel of trees! Hahaha! The progression of pigment announces itself with its crisp, green leaf, transitioning from a golden shimmer to an amber glow and then a brief explosion of brilliant red appears before bare branches reach for the sky and sunshine awaiting that next chance to begin again.

This jaw-dropping display may only be rivaled by the unseen, its root system. Understanding that the Aspen groves that scroll the mountainside, although full of unique and individual trees, they are one organism with a common root system. All of this chaos underground and look what rises from the earth - a cool, calm, and elegant beauty.

Aspens epitomize Design and the creative process.

Cheers!
